I registered for a business number and GST account which I never used. How do I cancel my accounts.?
I need to know the fastest way to clear this up. I never used the business account so when they sent me documents to file business tax returns, I never did. Apparently there are ways of closing existing accounts but I have to file a return and attach a note to it saying that I am closing my business down. But I never got to doing business in the first place so I dont even know what to file.
You must submit all the forms you've received, it's a requirement once you've applied for the business and GST number.
If you never made any income or paid any expenses you simply need to submit your GST form with all zeros and sign it. Include a letter with the form stating that you've closed the business down and the effective date.
