Fishing with a popper.?
When you fish a popper, do you find it more effective to just pop the lure on top or pop it hard enough that the lure actually submerges and creates a huge bubble trail.
When I use a popper I start of with small twitches just to disturb the water. I also tend to have many pauses during the retrieve. It gives them time to go check what the commotion is. This works best in very calm quiet conditions like in early mornings.
When that doesn't work or when conditions get rougher I get the popper moving faster with more pop, and spitting, I don't usually submerge it.
I go for Bass, and when theyre hungry I really pull it long, steady and hard in a sweeping motion, like your going for peacock bass. My rod is from 12 o clock postion and ends at 9-8 o clock, my lure looks like a mini speed boat. I do this about 3 times on one cast. This can cause huge hits, really fun.
When using a popper, you can go really fast, or painfully slow, but it depends on the mood of the fish. Most poppers are trying to mimic a injured/dying fish, and if you've ever seen one, they sputter for a couple of seconds and pause and they do this repeatedly, so try to copy that.
..if that don't work just use a worm, lol.
