Krystal is correct. The thing is there is no - do all lure. Bottom fish like Flounder and Sea Bass will eat cut bait or jigs. Tuna are generally higher in the water column and go after plugs or heavy metallic spoons. Bluefish will eat almost anything put in front of them. Live bait would work in almost any scenario if you can get the bait in front of the fish.
I've also seen a person use a bass rig with 20 LB test line out-fish the people using 30 LB for Albacore. It will depend on where you fish as to what you will want to bring as extras. My biggest suggestion is buy those heavy spoons and cast out beyond everyone else.
